What is biltong?

Biltong is a traditional South African cured meat made by air-drying seasoned beef. It's been made for centuries and is nothing like beef jerky — the process, texture, and nutritional profile are completely different.

How is biltong different from beef jerky?

Beef jerky is cooked or smoked at high heat. Biltong is air-dried slowly over several days at low temperature, which preserves more nutrients, creates a tender texture, and results in significantly higher protein content. Gee's Biltong has 40g of protein per 100g — beef jerky typically has 25–30g, and is usually loaded with sugar and additives.

What are the ingredients?

Grass-fed beef, vinegar, salt, coriander, black pepper, and our house spice blend. No artificial preservatives, no soy, no added sugar beyond 2.1g per 100g naturally present. That's it.

Where is Gee's Biltong made?

Everything is made by hand in Qormi, Malta. We are Malta's only local artisan biltong producer.

What beef do you use?

We use premium cuts of grass-fed Argentinian and Uruguayan beef. Every batch is checked by hand before it leaves production.

Does it need to be refrigerated?

No. Biltong is shelf-stable and does not require refrigeration. Store it in a cool, dry place. Once opened, consume within a few days for best texture.

How long does it last?

Unopened bags have a shelf life of several weeks. Check the best-before date on your pack. Once opened, we recommend finishing it within 3–5 days — though most people don't have trouble with that.

Is it suitable for keto or low-carb diets?

Yes. With only 3.5g of carbohydrates per 100g and 2.1g of sugar, Gee's Biltong is an excellent fit for keto, low-carb, and high-protein diets.

Is it gluten-free?

Do you deliver across Malta?

Yes. We offer next-day delivery across Malta. Free delivery on orders over €80.

Can I order in bulk?

Yes. Our Mega Value Pack (10 x 60g bags) is our best value option for regular snackers. For larger orders or wholesale enquiries, contact us directly.
